Who we are
Turnout is the controller of your personal data and is responsible for looking after it under UK GDPR. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
Account: how you sign in (Apple, Google or your phone number). Profile: your first name, birthdate (we show your age, never your birthdate), gender, who you want to meet and why, photos, bio, sports and the times you are free. Location: your phone's location, to show people nearby and to check you in at a Run Club. Other members only see a distance rounded up to a whole kilometre, never where you are. Selfie check: we keep the result (passed or not), not the video. Messages and activity: your chats, likes, matches, Run Club sign-ups and reports. Purchases: handled by the store and RevenueCat; we receive what you bought and until when. Device: a push-notification token, crash reports and product usage statistics that do not include your gender, who you want to meet or anything that identifies you.
Why we use it
To run Turnout: show you to people whose choices fit yours, make matches, deliver messages, and run Run Clubs (to provide the service you asked for). To keep people safe: verification, reports and moderation (our legitimate interest in a safe service, and legal duties). To send notifications you have not switched off. Who you want to meet can reveal your sexual orientation, which the law treats as especially sensitive. We use it only to choose who you see and who sees you, and we ask for your explicit consent when you choose it.
Who we share it with
Other members see your profile, as described above. We use trusted companies to run Turnout: Supabase (hosting and database), RevenueCat (subscriptions), our identity-check provider (selfie verification), Expo (push notifications) and tools for crash reports and usage statistics. They may only use data to provide their service to us. We never sell your data. We share information with the police or regulators only when the law requires it or to protect someone from serious harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, likes, matches and one-to-one chats are deleted straight away. Messages you sent in Run Club chats stay without your name, and reports you made stay without your name, so that other members and moderators keep what they need. Backups are cleared on a rolling schedule. We may keep a record of moderation decisions for as long as the law and safety require.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, restrict it, or receive a copy. You can edit your profile and delete your account in the app; for anything else email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Turnout is only for people aged 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
Changes
We will tell you in the app if we change this policy in a way that matters.
